Anna Heyes Wins Newcomer Award

ACTIVE Profile’s managing director Anna Heyes has been crowned Newcomer of the Year in the Daily Post’s prestigious Women In Business awards.

The 27-year-old young entrepreneur was praised by judges for increasing turnover at the Public Relations and Marketing company by 75% in the last 12 months – despite tough current economic conditions.

Judges heard how the Liverpool University graduate had started Active Profile in 2004, aged just 22, and successfully expanded its services to create one of the fastest growing PR and Marketing companies in Liverpool.

They also praised her for her involvement with social enterprise in the city as a member of the University of Liverpool Management School Advisory Board, chair of the Gateway Centre Charity and an ambassador for the Better Births Campaign.

Anna, who was last year named Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the North West Women in Business Awards, said: “It is always nice to get recognition for the work that you do and awards like this certainly inspire you to carry on that hard work.

“I am very proud of Active Profile and the Active Profile team. None of what the company has achieved could have been done without their expertise, creativity and passion.

“I am also thankful everyday for the wonderful clients we have. We are very lucky at Active Profile that we work with great companies and nice people.

“To be surrounded by such amazing people both here at the awards and everyday at Active Profile can only inspire us to strive for future successes.”

More than 250 inspiring women attended the seventh Merseyside Woman of the Year awards, which celebrate female achievement in arenas such as business, charity and entertainment.

Held at Liverpool’s Crowne Plaza, the event was compered by Dirty Dusting star Clare Bowle and attracted local personalities such as artist Anthony Brown, actresses Margi Clarke and Pauline Daniels, Pete Price and Mick Ord, managing editor of Radio Merseyside, who pronounced it “the best awards ceremony I’ve ever been to.”

Judges said they were extremely impressed with the calibre of entrants.

Judge Jean Gadsby said: “The field was extremely strong this year.

“The quality just gets higher and higher and it’s getting harder to be nominated as a finalist.

“We were looking not just for women who were successful in their paid work but who put in something extra, something women have put effort into in their own time.”

Liverpool Daily Post editor Mark Thomas said the standard of the finalists was extremely impressive.

He added: “The Liverpool Daily Post is extremely proud to be involved in these awards which honour such remarkable women.

“Every winner is truly inspiring.”
