Brabners Stuart LLP strengthens Corporate Finance team with two key appointments

Brabners Stuart LLP today welcomes Paula McGrath to their growing Corporate Finance Team.

The 42-year-old is leaving PKF where she was Corporate Finance partner for five years to join Brabners Stuart as partner.

Former Brabners Stuart director Jon Else, 34, was today also promoted to partner.

Jon qualified as a chartered accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers before joining The Steve Stuart Partnership (TSSP), now Brabners Stuart in May 2003.

Jon has worked with clients across a number of sectors including logistics, food, professional services, support services, manufacturing and engineering.

Jon said: “Today is a landmark day in my career and I am absolutely delighted to be promoted to partner at a very exciting time for Brabners Stuart.

“The benefits of the merger with Brabners Chaffe Street are really now starting to show and this, coupled with the recent upturn in market activity, should mean that the team advises on a number of significant transactions over the next 12 months.

“This can only be a good thing for the wider professional community here in Liverpool.”

Based in Exchange Flags, Liverpool, Brabners Stuart was formed in May 2010 following the merger between TSSP and Brabners Chaffe Street’s Corporate Finance team.

Brabners Stuart now represents one of the largest dedicated lead advisory teams in the region.

Brabners Stuart partner Steve Stuart, said: “Paula and I have worked together previously in Liverpool at Ernst &Young ten years ago and I am delighted to be able to welcome Paula to the Brabners Stuart team.

“Her expertise is in management buy-outs and buy-ins, disposals and acquisitions, is second-to-none and her considerable experience will prove invaluable in years to come.

“Paula, Jon and I will create a formidable team of focussed Lead advisers who will be able to help local businesses make the most of opportunities they are working on.

“We have seen a steady increase in opportunities over the past few weeks and as a local practice we are well placed to help secure growth in the near future.

“Personally I am delighted to welcome not one but two new partners into the business so soon after the successful merger with Brabners Chaffe Street last year.

“The signs are really good for the future.”

Paula has significant experience in Lead Advisory, having worked in Corporate Finance for more than 17years with Ernst & Young and BDO Stoy Hayward.

Throughout her career, Paula has worked with a wide range of clients in a variety of sectors and has gained considerable private equity experience.

She has led a variety of major deals in the region - the most recent completed deals include acting as financial advisor to the board of Liverpool Football Club on the £174 million disposal to Gillett and Hicks, the £16m merger and refinancing of Vittoria & Westminster Park Healthcare and the secondary buy-out of Secured Group backed by Next Wave Private Equity

Paula added: “Brabners Stuart brings together the best in the region’s Corporate Finance and legal advisory experts.

“I have worked with Steve and other members of the team before and know that they really do have good people there.

“I am thrilled to be joining a team which has the strength, depth and presence to build on the Corporate Finance market.

“This role also particularly appeals as Brabners Stuart is dedicated and committed to Liverpool and is already carving out a strong brand in the region”.
