The project

Developers Ashtenne and Aberdeen Asset Management were in a hostile situation, with a 52-acre site in Chippenham, Wiltshire, having lost time, money and the support of the local people. The media was against the project, so a PR and consultation plan was required immediately. Active Profile was appointed to implement a public consultation and stakeholder engagement programme for local residents and businesses, as well as to create a strategic campaign to support the planning application and consultation.

Objectives

  • - To reposition the developers and the site through positive media coverage
  • - To carry out extensive consultation in the community
  • - To assist the team in obtaining planning permission

“Based on my experience of Active Profile’s outside-of-the-box-thinking and proactive approach to delivering successful projects, I would recommend the team to anyone looking for a successful and timely resolution to any complex project.”

Wayne Locke, Director, Central Chippenham Partnership

The solution

We worked closely with the town and transport planning team led by GVA (Bristol), providing extensive community consultation support through a series of events.

We ran roundtable events to identify and discuss key themes and created local ambassadors to promote the scheme.

The result

Feedback for the planning application was collated and we worked with the partnership to engage with the media, communicating with them regularly and bringing them to site.

We issued announcements and news stories, securing positive press coverage in key titles.
